Safety on the Ground

Basic reminders for big-crowd evenings — not a substitute for official advisories.

Follow police barricades and mandal volunteer instructions — routes and one-ways change during the festival.

Agree on a meeting point with your group in advance, in case you get separated in a crowd.

Very high-crowd Ganpatis can mean hours in queue — carry water and plan for the wait, especially with kids or elders.

Never enter a barricaded or restricted area, even for a better photo — follow on-ground instructions.

Mumbai Ganpati Darshan is an independent, community-run guide to Ganeshotsav — built by @themumbaiyatri. It isn't affiliated with any mandal, trust, or government body.

Literally "the honoured ones" — a traditional first-few order of precedence for immersion processions, most famously the five Manache Ganpati of Pune. Mumbai doesn't have one official equivalent list; different sources cite different mandals. We're treating this as background reading for now rather than a verified directory.

No. They're editorial estimates based on each mandal's general reputation, clearly labelled "estimated" on every card. We don't have a live crowd-sensing or footfall data source — if that changes, we'll say so and switch the label.
